Bob Capone 

Executive Director 1992-2014

On November 2, 1992, Robert Capone '62, became Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the then Villanova Educational Foundation, later renamed the Blue White Scholarship Foundation. He brought with him a unique experience gleaned over the course of more than 20 years of successful association with Villanova University as Assistant Vice President for Alumni Affairs.

 

Bob came to the Foundation at a time of great anticipation, and brought with him integrity, talent and purpose. He very quickly made the Foundation’s mission his own. In 2014, Bob retired and was succeeded by  Kathleen (Kate) Cellucci '84.  Bob passed away in September 2017.  He was a unique human being  and his contributions to the success of the Foundation were immeasurable.

Asim Ahmed  2016-2018

Mr. Ahmed, a graduate of the Class of 2016, received a bachelor's degree in Economics from Villanova University with a specialization in Business Economics and a minor in Psychology. He is currently working in Product Marketing at Niantic, Inc., a Google spinoff and the company behind the global gaming phenomenon Pokémon GO. In addition, he has been a long time partnered content creator with YouTube. His past work experience includes working with the following brands: Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment, eBay, PayPal, and Machinima Inc.

Joe Cervini  2015-2023

Mr. Cervini received a Bachelor of Science in Business administration from Villanova's College of Commerce and Finance in 1971. He went on to have a long and successful career in the FBI. He is currently an Associate in the Technical Services Division of AT&T.

Joe Fusco  2014-2016

Mr. Fusco ’81, is the director of Internal audit and special projects for Penske Truck Leasing's Internal Audit Department. He was a member of the football team during his time at Villanova University.

Carol Gruber 2018-2019

​Ms. Gruber received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Villanova University in 1991, and has been employed in the pharmaceutical business with Merck as a supervisor and  specialist in Learning and Development for over twenty years.  She has a Masters in Education from Temple University. 

 

Nicole Blanche Guerin  2014-2016

Ms. Guerin graduated from Villanova in 1988. She is both a Registered Nurse and an Attorney. Most recently, she has held the position of General Counsel to ELAP Services, a health benefits services company.

John Kroos  2014-2017

Mr. Kroos graduated from Villanova University in 2005. He is an Assistant Vice President for Beneficial Bank. His father, Dr. Kenneth Kroos, has been a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Villanova University since 1982. John was crucial in establishing the BWSF Corporate Partner Sponsorship Program.

Jeffrey Lipson  2014-2016

Mr. Lipson ’92, is currently the Managing Director of Technology Research Associates, and a Reserve US Marine Corps Colonel with over 22 years of military service. He is an expert in cybersecurity.

John Macguire  2014-2017

Mr. Maguire (deceased)  was a manufacturer's representative for Penn Stainless in Quakertown, PA, McKnight Steel and Tube company in Ivyland, PA and Industrial Spring Steel in Philadelphia. He sold his industrial spring steel business to Lapham-Hickey steel in Chicago in 2014, but maintained his involvement in the industry right up to the time of his death. He had five married children and eight grandchildren and lived in Jenkintown, PA. 

 

John was an avid Villanova basketball fan, beloved by his family and respected for his expertise in the steel industry. John's charitable pursuits were legendary, and his special charity was the Blue White Scholarship Foundation.  His enthusiasm and good nature will be sorely missed.

John McCawley 2017-2019

Mr. McCawley is Director, Energy Acquisition at PECO Energy and has over 33 years with PECO in generation engineering and project management, planning, energy procurement and energy policy.  He has a BS in Electrical Engineering (Lehigh), MBA (Villanova ‘88) and an MS in Finance from Drexel University.  John is a licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania.  He is on the board of Arden Theater Company and a Boy Scout volunteer at Troop 542 Maple Glen.

David Miller III 2017-2019

Mr. David F. Miller III graduated from Villanova in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He received his master's degree in Marketing and Finance from Boston College. In 1977, Mr. Miller started M&S Management Associates Inc., a management consulting company, in Philadelphia. In 1981 he sold his interest in M&S and joined Bouton Corporation, a manufacturer of Industrial Safety Products, as President and CEO.  He served in this capacity for 29 years.

 

In 2013, Mr. Miller joined Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the Corporate and Professional Education Department, primarily working with high-tech, defense and manufacturing companies. He is married with three children and resides in Dover, MA.  

Sean Morrissey  2014-2016

Mr. Morrissey graduated from the Villanova School of Business in 2010. He is a financial planner with McAdam, a Philadelphia-based financial planning firm. He specializes in delivering advanced planning solutions and retirement strategies for professionals, families, and business owners.

 

During his time at Villanova, Sean was a 4-year letter-earner on the VU football team, 3-time selection to the NCAA all-academic team, and a member of the 2009 VU Football National Championship team. He considers the lessons learned on the gridiron an invaluable part of his education and experience.

Jeremy Plymette  2015-2017

Mr. Plymette is a 2011 MBA graduate from the Villanova School of Business. After a brief stint in the music industry immediately out of undergraduate school, he leveraged his degree in advertising to begin his extensive tenure with one of the world’s largest out-of-home media vendors, Clear Channel Outdoor, a subsidiary of iHeartMedia, Inc.

Suzy Pratowski 2018-2019

​Ms. Pratowski received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Villanova University in 2000. She is an insurance professional, working as a Surety Underwriter and Independent Agent since her graduation from Villanova.  After a successful career as an Independent Agent for AFLAC, Suzy is now a Senior Account Executive at the Judge Group. Ms. Pratowski has been a member of the Union League of Philadelphia since 2000.

Dr. Ronald Russo  1973-2014

One of the Original Founders of the Villanova Educational Foundation, Inc., the "Wildcat Club" in 1973, and the predecessor of the Blue White Scholarship Foundation. Doc Russo, a.k.a "Bud" was the longest serving member of the senior leadership of the Foundation. His latest tenure as a member of the BWSF was from 2014 to 2018.  Dr. Russo earned his degree from Villanova University in 1952. He has been a family physician for more than 50 years, and he still practices one day a week. He continues to be active with the Foundation as an advisor and mentor to the Board of Directors.

Kevin Scanlon 2014-2023

Mr. Scanlon received his BA Degree from Villanova University in 1981. He is President of SLT (Surgical Laser Technologies), formerly PhotoMedex Surgical, a company he has been involved with for almost 25 years.

 

Additionally, Mr. Scanlon is consulting with an exciting new software platform which interacts with a hospital EMR (Electronic Medical Record) called Medtel.  The program charts the entire episode of surgical care, putting all of the care givers and stakeholders on the same page and at the same time,  from the moment the surgeon sits down with their patient to schedule surgery through the time patient is discharged.

Stephanie Thoeny  2015-2017

Ms. Haas Thoeny received her Bachelor of Arts in English from Villanova University in 2005, and has pursued a career in the insurance industry since that time. She is currently a Vice President with Lamb Financial Group in Conshohocken, PA. Lamb Financial is one of the nation's largest insurance brokerage firms that specializes in serving clients with complex risk management, insurance, and employee benefits. Her clients include medical practices, non-profit businesses, and other professional liability clients. Stephanie lives in Wayne with her husband and two sons and loves giving back to her community and as a grateful alum through the BWSF.

Michael J. Stephano  2014-2016

Mr. Stephano ’90 VSB, is the Managing Partner of  Stephano Slack LLC, a Philadelphia-based regional accounting and tax firm. A special thank you to Mike who provided dinner and allowed his office to be used for all board meetings beginning Fall 2014 through Summer 2016

Robert Viola    2019-2023

Robert Viola received a B.S. in History and Education from Villanova University in 1967.  As the President of Megro Benefits Company, Bob specializes in advising employers on group health, life and disability benefit funding methods, plan design, cost containment, flexible benefits, and state and federal compliance issues.

 

Bob began his career in the Accident & Health division of CNA in Philadelphia and then moved to Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company in their personal life division. He started his agency's group division in 1982 and formed The Megro Benefits Company in 1987. Bob holds a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designation in addition to his RHU & REBS. 

Joseph Walheim 2017-2019

Mr. Walheim graduated from the Villanova School of Business in 1958.  He then went on to attend the Villanova School of Law, graduating in 1961.  He has been in the private practice of Law for 56 years.  Mr. Walheim is presently practicing in Havertown, PA as the President of Joseph A. Walheim & Associates. 

 

He enjoys playing tennis and attending Villanova Football and Basketball games.  He is the father of nine children, seven of whom graduated from Villanova as well.  Presently, he has thirty-six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Aaron Weems  2014-2016

Mr. Weems ’00, is a partner with Fox Rothschild LLP where he focuses on family law along with commercial and civil litigation cases. During his time at Villanova, Aaron played linebacker on the football team, making the play-offs twice, including Villanova's 1997 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship team.
